Plantar Fasciitis

Why do you choose the shoes you wear every day? Is it for looks? Fashion? If you’re not thinking about comfort with your footwear choices, you could be contributing to chronic foot pain conditions such as plantar fasciitis.

Here’s all you need to know about this uncomfortable condition.

What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis is named after the plantar fascia. From your toes to your heel bone, this tissue promotes foot arch health. As a ligament, the plantar fascia can become worn out over time, leading to symptoms like inflammation, swelling, and feelings of weakness. You’ll also be in a lot of pain.

Most commonly, patients like soldiers, athletes, and those who are 50 and older develop this condition, but it can affect almost anybody.

What Are Its Symptoms?

What will you feel if you have plantar fasciitis? The biggest symptom is pain. You may find it very hard to do certain activities, such as climbing a staircase, walking far distances, and even getting out of bed. By nightfall, you may be in considerably more pain than you were in that morning.

Common Causes and Reasons You May Have Plantar Fasciitis

There are many reasons you may develop this foot condition. If you have calf muscles or Achilles tendons that are naturally tight, it may predispose you to developing plantar fasciitis. Wearing old, ill-fitting shoes, being overweight, or having a job that requires you to stand on hard surfaces for most of the day can also be contributing factors.

If you have flat feet, high arches, or excessive pronation (inward rolling of the feet), you may also be at risk for developing plantar fasciitis.

How Chiropractic Care Can Help You Treat and Manage the Pain

A chiropractor can offer natural treatment options for foot pain. With their spine-focused treatment, your chiropractor will correct issues with your spinal alignment, curvature, and posture. If there’s too much pressure on the spine, this will affect the rest of the body, including the feet.

Make sure to ask your chiropractor about nutrition and exercise advice as well. By losing some weight and undergoing chiropractic care, you should notice that most of your foot pain disappears.
